Congratulations to Our Athletes who Competed in the Connacht Finals Track and Field Today

Well done to Savannagh O’Callaghan, who came 1st in the Senior racewalk. Savannagh also won the award for Sportsperson of the Year on the South Campus at the High Cross College awards today. Additionally, Teagan Rooney was named the Junior Athlete of the Year for High Cross College 2026.

Congratulations to Tailte O’Callaghan, who placed 4th, and Teagan Rooney, who placed 5th in the intermediate racewalk. In the Junior racewalk, Cuisle O’Callaghan took 1st place, and Emma Howson finished in 2nd place.

Aoibheann O’Malley came 2nd in the junior 100m sprint, but her big win of the day was taking 1st place in the junior high jump. She cleared 1.60m, breaking the Connacht record that had stood since 1992.

Well done to all the athletes who competed today, and to all of our athletes throughout the year. It has been a brilliant year for sports at the college. Best of luck to the girls who will go on to compete in the All-Ireland finals on the 30th of May in Tullamore!
