Congratulations to the winners of the Green Schools Guess the Number of Bottles competition Saoirse Hennessy, Ciara Fox and Michelle Gavin. The three girls estimates were the closest to the number of waste plastic bottles in the net and approximately how much they cost would cost.
The net had been filled with the plastic bottles which had been left as litter from around the school were collected by the Green School over a two week period. As the net was gradually, filled up with plastic – the quantities of the plastic bottles that were being wasted became even more evident.
The final count of waste plastic bottles was 805 bottles, with an average cost of €1.25 per bottle meant the cost for the bottles in the net was €1006.00 approximately.
