Congratulations to all involved the opening of the Marie Quinn Hogan Modern Art Gallery

The new Marie Quinn Hogan Modern Art Gallery was officially opened by Marie herself on Wednesday 26th of February 2014. The opening exhibition consists of a range of works created by the fifth year art students.
This project was in response to the 2013 Turner Prize exhibition in Derry. The installations on display ranged from textiles, film, digital prints, plaster casting, and human form sculpture.
The students explored various social issues and produced a exhibition full of mature and challenging work. Themes such as sugar addiction, cyberbullying, materialism, beauty is pain and the effects of modern technology on daily social interaction to name but a few.

‘Brilliant’, ‘Very thought provoking’, ‘Its cleverly portraying the fashion issues  people face these days’, are  just some of the observations and comments that have been used to describe this exhibition to date.
