Crazy Hair, Sunshine & a Corofin race starter, all combine to make the 2015 Fun Run a great success

Our annual fun run took place on Wednesday March 11th. This year the funds raised went to the Natalie Higgins foundation. This was a very special to us as Natalie was a past pupil of the school. At the moment the foundation is building an orphanage in Ghana. The fun run raised €500 euro in aid of this fantastic cause.

The race itself was a fantastic event with the whole school participating. Credit must go to the sports council and P.E department who organised the event. A word of thanks also to Brendan and Patricia Monaghan of Tuam Athletics club, all of the parents who helped out as stewards and the Gardai who ensured the race was safely started.

Thank you also to Quinns, O’Tooles Supervalu and Martin Lambe of Mace on the Miltown Road for their sponsorship of the event.

Our theme for the day was crazy hair. The prize for craziest hair on the day was Ruby Atwell (TY). Well done Ruby. The run was started by our very own Corofin GAA supporter who was out in style.

On the running side of things, first place was joined between two first year students – Caoimhe Moran and Hannah Mc Hugh who arrived home in a time of 18 mins and 39 seconds! Super Running. They were followed closely by Eirene Cullinane (2nd), Kate Geraghty (3rd), Niamh Daly (4th), Chelsie Crowe(5th) Rachael Connolly (6th) Chloe Crowe (7th), Sara Martyn (8th), Shannen Glynn (9th). Congratulations to Mr. McGrath who was the first teacher home.
