On the Wednesday April 22, 1A CSPE class held a sponsored Walk 4 Water in aid of the Natalie Higgins foundation. Two of the first year classes 1A & 2A did the walk to raise funds and awareness about the amount of women and children who must walk miles daily for water.
All of the class walked 5 km with four litres of water, to symbolise the walk women and children do daily in developing communities, for water which often deprives the women of time to earn a living and children of time to get an education.
The class also had a team who contacted Natalie Higgins mother, who came to the class and described the work the foundation are doing in Ghana. The girls then presented her with a cheque for €774 that they had collected through sponsorship from their friends and families.
