Huge congratulations to our u14 footballers who were recently crowned u14 Connacht B champions. Our girls faced a tough battle against Mount Saint Michael who had previously beaten us in round 2 of the championship. The girls from Claremorris started brightly with a goal immediately from the throw in. However, points from Alice McHugh, Ava Molloy and Clodagh Fallon got us back on track before a brilliantly taken penalty from Ava Molloy ensured a 1-7 to 1-4 lead at half time.
Our opposition responded with two well taken points but some excellent scores from Gemma Casserly and Alice McHugh extended our lead to three points again. In a tense final quarter saw Mount Saint Michael score a fortunate goal leaving the sides level.
Our girls showed true passion and desire with Gemma Casserly responding with some fantastic points to give us the lead yet again. Our defence who were excellent throughout the game never buckled when under pressure. A Ruby Cronin goal at the end sealed the win for Presentation college with jubilant scenes at the final whistle.
Commiserations to Mount Saint Michael who battled hard throughout the game and never gave up. Aoife Burke (captain) accepted the cup on behalf of the team. A huge thank you to all our supporters who helped drive our team to victory.
Final score: Presentation College Tuam 2-15 Mount Saint Michael 2-9.
