High Cross College Student Participates in National Library of Ireland TY Programme

Congratulations to Keelin Kelly, who recently took part in a 10-week Transition Year programme at the National Library of Ireland called “TY Reveal Illustration: Bringing Books to Life.” The course combined in-person and online sessions and taught students about libraries, art, literature, and illustration.

During the course, Keelin:

  • Explored the library’s exhibitions, architecture, and collections;
  • Learned about Irish writers such as W.B. Yeats and Seamus Heaney;
  • Gained access to the library’s Reading Room and catalogue for research;
  • Participated in workshops, including one on creating pop-up books; and
  • Studied storytelling, typography, and Irish culture, focusing especially on St. Brigid and St. Brigid’s Day.

Well done for getting involved in such an amazing opportunity and experience, Keelin. We are delighted that you found the course so interesting and engaging!
