Congratulations to all the students from Presentation College, Tuam who received their Pope John Paul II Awards in Tuam Cathedral on Tuesday Nov. 5th. A very special mention to one of our students Aoife Maloney received The Papal Award, the highest award for Pope John Paul 11 Awards.
The award recognises the voluntary work undertaken in both school and parish settings over the course of a two year period. The pupils are required to undertake half of their voluntary service in their local parish; contributing and helping to facilitate youth groups, volunteering their time and talents in the aid of local charities.
Over 200 young people received their awards this year. Archbishop Neary along with special guest was Peter McConnell who climbed Mt. Everest earlier in the year presented the students with their awards. It was a great evening of celebration for our young people who do so very much in our church.
