Three first year students Feja Dooley, Lauren Roache and Ellie Egan were nominated by the school principal to attend a talent search organised by the Centre for Talented Youth Ireland. This year’s talent search took place in NUIG . Students are nominated annually based on recent standardised test reports showing a 95th percentile score relating to mathematical and reasoning abilities.
Following the talent search students may be invited to attend the CTYI Summer Programme, which is a three week programme offering students a wide variety of academic courses. Over 30 subject areas are offered, including subjects as diverse as Novel Writing, Criminology, Psychology, Computer Gaming and Engineering. These challenging courses are designed to provide heightened academic stimulation. They also provide an opportunity for students to meet other young people with similar interests.
