On Friday the 5th of April, the festival began with a short film viewing in the Brogue Bar, Tuam. This year’s variety of short films had a mixture of drama, documentary, comedy, and thriller. The Judges’ Choice award went to the TY students of Presentation College, Tuam, with their short film ‘I Am Woman’, a powerful message on female empowerment. The video clip was filmed and edited by StationHouse Media.
After studying gender equality as part of development education, the students wanted to show how they would come up with creative videos to debate and express their honest opinions on this issue. Through a film-making workshop given by James Ryan of StationHouse Media, the students developed their ideas and filmed and edited their video. The girls were honoured to have received this award and are proud to know that their hard work and effort made a difference.
