TY’s enjoy the Global Goals workshop at the beautiful Brigit’s Gardens

On Friday the 22nd of September all of our Transition Years students class visited St Bridget’s Gardens in Pollagh, Rosscahill, Co. Galway. When we arrived, we sat down in a little marquee. Two of the four leaders, explained to us what we would be doing throughout the day.

After that, we split into four groups. Each group had a leader assigned to them. Within each group, we were divided into fictional ‘families’ and given identity cards. Each person in the family had to fill out an identity card; with our name, our ages and what role we have in the family.

From then on, there was tasks that each family had to complete relating to our family’s situation. The first family to compete the task earned ‘rewards’ for their family. These rewards were in the form of cards that were needed and used throughout the families’ journey, the cards came in the form of energy, a water and food.

Whomever had the most cards left over and got across the lake first won.

Overall it was a very enjoyable day, that was was great fun, active, interesting and extremely informative.  We all felt that the workshop brought the ideas of the Global Goals to life, also made us all much more aware of the importance of the goals, and need to have them.

All of the girls agreed that it was a great day, and they would recommend it to every one of all ages. The scenery in Brigit’s Gardens was wonderful and all of the leaders and staff were just lovely.
