On the 29th of March Fifth year Geography students enjoyed a trip to the Burren, Co. Clare.  The class visited the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin Cave and Fanore beach.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the stunning scenery and unique natural sites, especially the one hundred and twenty steps in and out of the cave in Doolin!
Having learned all about Limestone, the Burren region, Karst features and Coastal processes in class, the class got to see and learn about the features in real life.
The spectacular 200m cliffs were breathtaking, with a few of the girls saying they were feeling jelly-legged walking along the cliff paths!
At Doolin caves, students received a guided tour showcasing the unbelievable 24ft, 10 tonne, free hanging stalactite! One of the world’s largest.
Amazingly, group went from being 200 meters above sea level to 210 ft underground in the space of a few hours!
Students explored the large sandy beach and sand dunes at Fanore, before returning home, with a quick stop off in Supermac’s in Oranmore for tea!
This fantastic day may have ended, but the memories will last forever!
