The students had been working as ‘media ambassadors’ for UNICEF Ireland to promote the national online poll that UNICEF were conducting in the Unicef ‘It’s about us’ campaign to see what global issues young people are concerned about.

As media ambassadors some of the girls were interviewed and photographed by the national newspapers television stations and they also took part in workshops.  The conference participants were also given a special video address from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

According to their teacher, the girls fulfilled their roles with a poise and maturity that belies, their youth and fully participated in the day’s proceedings with great enthusiasm.
