On the 14th of November, the Transition Year students attended the first of two talks held by the Galway Rape Crisis Centre held for them at the school, this talk centred on ways to identify and deal with unhealthy relationships and how to know if you are in one. The next talk scheduled for the 6th of December where they will be learning about how Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are spread and the effect these have upon on a person’s body.
The center regularly hold talks for students aged 16-24 to inform and raise awareness about sexual violence among young people and to assist in its prevention. Galway Rape Crisis Centre is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Galway City; providing counselling and support services to survivors of sexual violence and abuse in the West of Ireland. The centre also provides Education and Training Services.
