Second Years go to see the Human Rights Film Selma
‘It Can’t Wait, Selma it is….’ Second Years go to see the Human Rights Film Selma

On the fifth of March, all of the Second Year classes went to see the film ‘Selma’ at the IMC cinema in Galway city. The films ‘Selma’ was about Martin Luther King and his fight for the equality of the black people of the United States of America in the 1960’s.
This film was incredibly honest and showed the harsh brutality of how black Americans were, and in some cases still are, treated. It perfectly depicted why everyone should have basic human rights.
After the end credits had come to an end, and some tears were shed, the four classes at the McDonald’s and then went bowling to the Planet. They had great fun bowling and laughing whenever something didn’t go as planned
Overall, it was a great day out, whilst still giving students an insight on the importance of voting rights and on how badly people of African descent were, and may still be, treated today.
