Pres Got Talent 2016

Our school’s annual talent show ‘Pres Got Talent’, took place on Wednesday the 26th of December 2016. As usual, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Every year, we collect €3 from students as an entry fee, which we donate to charity. This year’s talent show was in aid of Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) which is a rare genetic disorder. Symptoms include: weak muscles, slow development and constant hunger. One of this year’s judges was Marguerite Hughes, whose son has PWS. Before the show began, she gave a short speech on the syndrome, explaining what it is, and why this was a good cause for us to donate the money we collected.

After this, the show began. There were a wide variety of acts in the show, ranging from singing, to gymnastics, to skits. The high level of talent in the school was evident from all the excellent acts. Though characters such as Honey G and Donald Trump were recurrent throughout the show, every act was different in its own way.

After all the acts had performed, the judges Mrs Clarke, Ms Lohan, Mrs Forde and Ms Hughes, had to decide on a winner, as well as two runners up. In third place were 3C who sang ‘Can’t help falling in love’. In second place were First Year class 4A who included many different talents in their performance, such as gymnastics. The winners of the show were the Fifth Years, who performed a skit, changing the words of Christmas songs to relate to our school life, in a funny and entertaining way.

To end the show Ms Wilson, Ms Casey and Ms Heaton performed ‘Can’t stop the feeling’, making it very funny by changing the lyrics of the song to relate to teaching. It’s safe to say that they had the whole gym laughing!

There’s no doubt that it was a great show, enjoyed by all, and that all the money raised is going to a worthy cause.
