Leaving certificate students along with their teacher Ms. Gurney and Ms Devlin, had a great day doing their fieldwork investigation at Bishops Quarter beach in Ballyvaughan, Co.Clare. All Leaving Certificate students have to complete the fieldwork investigation as it is part of the Geography Leaving Certificate syllabus, and the project is worth 20% of the total exam. This fieldwork allows students to develop key geographical skills and gives students an opportunity to learn Geography outside of the classroom.
The students used various types of equipment to complete tasks such measuring longshore drift, wind speed and direction. They also studied a variety of factors that create the deposition features including the beach and the sand dunes. The girls worked very hard throughout the day, and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
