Congratulations to all our athletics students who recently competed in the Connacht Track and Field Finals! Our Minor, Junior, and Senior teams collectively brought home the trophy for the best overall school. Well done to everyone involved, and best of luck in the upcoming All Ireland Championships in Tullamore!
Highlights from the Finals:
1st Year Students:
- Aoibheann O’Malley: 1st place in both the high jump and long jump
- Cliona Healy: 4th place in javelin
- Laura Higgins: 3rd place in the 75m hurdles
2nd Year Students:
- Rachel Treacy: 1st place in the 75m hurdles
- Orla Newell: 3rd place in the 800m
Relay Team Success:
Our minor relay team had great success, finishing in 1st place. Our two junior relay teams also performed exceptionally, coming in 1st and 3rd.
Individual Achievements:
- Tailte O’Callaghan: 3rd place in race walking (Intermediate)
- Savanagh O’Callaghan: 2nd place in race walking
- Ciara Gilmore: 4th place with a personal best in the senior race walk
- Aine Maguire: 2nd place in the 200m and 1st place in the 400m
Niamh McWalter was awarded the HCC Senior Athlete of the Year and achieved 1st place in the 3000m and 3rd in the steeplechase.
Senior Relay Team:
Our Senior Relay (4 x 300m) — Aine Maguire, Myah Gallagher, Faye Gannon, and Niamh Durcan — finished in a fantastic 1st place.
