On the 16th and 17th of January 2017, the Transition Year students had their hat-making workshop, in preparation for the annual fashion show. The aim of the day was by the end, each student would have created their own dramatic, unique hat, which they will model at the show.
Each student had to design as hat, and on the day bring in all the necessary equipment and accessories to make it. However, as the day progressed the majority of our ideas changed, be it slight changes, or an entirely new look.
One thing is for sure; all the hat designs were greatly improved.
On the day, everybody helped each other, in any way they could, from exchanging buttons and thread, to helping with hot gluing.
During the day, we were all greatly aided by Ms Mannion and Helen Winterlich. Not only did they add to each idea, sometimes completely changing its perspective, thus making it exceedingly better, they also helped us in assembling the hats. There is no doubt that the hats would be much less impressive without their guidance and help.
Over the course of these two days, our plain, boring hats and designs were transformed, into beautiful things that we will be able to wear to an event.
We are all looking forward to modelling our hats at the fashion show, later this year.
